RADCLIFFE actor Johnny Partridge was the undoubted star of the latest celebrity reality TV programme Tumble at the weekend.

The EastEnders and West End star was one of 10 celebrities taking part in the new BBC1 show which showcases gymnastic skills. They had a mere six weeks to learn various routines involving suspended hoops and floor exercises.

Some, like ex-Blue Peter presenter Peter Duncan (now 60 and in great shape) and singer Amelle Berrubah from The Sugababes, promised well. Others, like actresses Emma Samms and Lucy Mecklenburgh, still have a way to go.

But John Partridge, now 42, performed a remarkable floor exercise routine, complete with tumbles and other impressive moves. He’s lost four stone over the last two years, largely down to caring for his mum who has Alzheimer’s, and looks toned and fit.

The series promises well and has the big plus of top name judges like legendary Olympic gymnast Nadia Comaneci and Team GB medallist Louis Smith on the panel. But it also highlights the real dedication that genuine gymnasts need every day in order to perform their sport and compete at all levels.
