Although I live in Northumberland I have season tickets at Bolton for myself, my son and two grandsons.

We went to the debacle on Saturday at Reading which we have to accept as a bad day at the office.

Too many players quite simply did not want to know.

The fans were absolutely fabulous, never lost their spirit and were warmly applauded by the Reading fans.

On the way back to the railway station they emphasised how good our fans were.

BUT

The players on the pitch were simply awful.

Right from the kick off we looked out of sorts, we were disorganized, players way out of position (whoever thought Neil Danns was a right winger and Darren Pratley a striker?) and dispirited.

The first half was poor but it got worse in the second half.

Our coaching staff must have thought “you got us in this mess you get us out of it”.

Not one player can say he earned his crust.

BUT

Why did we not make some changes that seemed quite obvious to make?

Whenever we had a free kick (apart from in our own penalty area) not one player had a clue on who was going to take it or, even worse, where to deliver it.

Mr Freedman and his coaching staff must take a good slice of the blame – although he cannot be blamed for the players' poor performances.

It would be extremely useful if at the next training session the players introduced themselves to each other.

New money, new players will not solve our problems – although a left back and a striker would be welcome – let's see what our fringe players can offer.

Young Odelusi tried when he came on – others will try and that would be appreciated by the supporters.

It is heartbreaking when players get the ball and have a blank look on their faces as to what to do with it.

I have watched the Whites for over 60 years and, after Saturday, I'm beginning to think that our regular return journey of over 350 miles is too much, especially when players themselves do not want to know or care.
