I WAS at the Octagon Theatre in Bolton to see “This May Hurt a Bit”.

I can see where the lady who complained in The Bolton News is coming from; obviously, she doesn’t believe in the health service.

The facts and figures given were accurate; the health service will cease to exist; it is being privatised. You can’t blame this government, you cannot blame the last government because it all started with Mrs Thatcher.

But, believe me, unless people stand up and demand a non-privatised health service, it will cease to exist.

All parties are fully aware that the British public have forgotten how to fight for what they need because, to make no bones about it, only violence brings about change to this country whether it was the Peasants’ Revolt or the setting up of parliaments under the Plantagenet kings.

You cannot trust any of the politicians in parliament. It seems you can fool all the people all of the time, so I’m making a plea that people start to shout.

Start to say our NHS, which is the greatest thing any government has done in my lifetime, is not for politicians to play with.

The Octagon is a cracking theatre; it’s job is to make people think. Thought-provoking is what theatre has always been about.

However, I was exceedingly saddened by the lack of response when leaving the theatre as nobody seemed to be taking leaflets being distributed to save the NHS, so I assume the politicians are right.

If you need a better health service it will cost you money. Nothing is free and I am sick and tired of politicians referring to the National Health Service as free.

It is our biggest expense, but it is an expense that is well worth paying the price for, to live in a civilised society.

What you have is choices. Do you want an atomic bomb? Do you want to have our soldiers fighting in other people’s conflicts? Do you want your old people looking after? That’s the real choices.

I would vote for the NHS looking after people, but it costs money. You only need look at the American model to see what happens with privatisation.

Remember it is your choice. Demand it now or we will lose it for ever.
