I READ in Angela Kelly’s column (April 9), her views and attempts to be humorous on “Ageing not a magical comment for over 30s”.
Her statement about “turning down my hearing aid,” was not very funny or humorous in my book, nor lots of other people’s who are affected this way.
Why are the deaf and hard of hearing the butt of ageing jokes and made to appear uncomprehending, stupid, or senile.
If jokes in the same context were aimed at the blind or various other afflictions, it would probably cause a hue and cry.
You may think I have no sense of humour (yes, I have), but even a sense of humour can wear very thin. I suggest Angela Kelly thinks diplomacy in future attempts to be witty.
