I FEEL constrained to respond to two of your recent correspondents. “Religious bigots make me fed up” (Name and address supplied, Tuesday April 8) and, “Marriage for all who love” (Brian Derbyshire, April 9) The implied rhetoric is that it is only a minority of religious zealots who are opposed to homosexual marriage.

Not so! I am not in the slightest bit religious, but I oppose the Government’s decision to place homosexual relationships on a par with a marriage between a man and a woman, and I would guess my views regarding “homosexual marriage” belong with the majority.

Brian Derbyshire says in his letter that the majority of marriages end in divorce. This is not true, it is about one third.

Homosexuals on the other hand tend to be more promiscuous than heterosexual people.

And at the risk of being labelled politically incorrect, there is no way that the sexual activities of homosexuals can be construed as natural behaviour.

I would surmise it is chosen, ‘either consciously or subconsciously’, rather than it being a genetic disposition (ie: the so called being born gay syndrome).

Once again we see the rights of a tiny minority, (who are in this instance homosexual) trump the rights of the majority of normal people (who are heterosexual).

It can now only be a matter of time before religious institutions are forced by law to carry out homosexual marriages against their will. Now there’s freedom for you!
