I WAS unaware that industrial action was taking place and that the bins would not be collected.
Although an inconvenience, I assumed that provision would be put in place to empty the bins as soon as possible.
However, I have since discovered by checking on the website that our green, burgundy, and cream bins will not be emptied for another two weeks.
This is totally unacceptable. Whilst I understand the reasons for the action, I cannot accept that the council is forcing householders to wait that long.
I see that Bury council put on extra collections over the weekend to empty any bins that should have been emptied. This is a disgrace.
As a taxpayer I do not expect to pay for a service that is not provided.
All my bins are nearly full and will not last another two weeks. This will mean one of two things: Either we bag up extra rubbish and leave them at the side, which I’m sure will not be collected, and is also an health risk; or we make journeys to the recycling plant ourselves, which is not acceptable.
This is not a criticism of the dispute, but of inept planning and foresight by the council.
I am sure I am not alone in voicing my annoyance Steven Hall Tarbet Drive Bolton
