I WAS shocked and saddened to hear about the actions of Bolton council at Horwich cemetery regarding the tree and lanterns at Judith McGuiness’s grave.
Whatever the council's reasons, I feel that they should have consulted the family and also the lanterns were the property of the family.
It's a very sad world were people's feelings can be disregarded so harshly. The council can not do anything to make things right save a public apology and an assurance that they have changed their procedures.
I had known Judith since we were both young teenagers and had watched her public battle with terminal cancer and applauded her efforts to raise awareness about bowel cancer.
Her husband and family have tried to move on with their lives in spite of their sad loss.
This episode will have done nothing to help them in this process.
