I RECENTLY watched an epidsode of “Heartbeat” where some boys stole a nurse’s car and took the drugs that they found in her bag.

One of the boys’ mothers blamed the nurse for leaving her car unlocked while she was on an emergency case. In reality this is too true. I’ve always said that crimes like this are due to bad parenting where they have had no guidance.

I had an immaculate vintage car stolen and destroyed. The car was a sorry sight and had a “lake” in the rear footwells comprising of bottles of wine and Fosters cans. The boys don’t know the meaning of responsibility and much more than likely their parents know less.

In cases like this, their parents must apportion the blame for their irresponsibility and out of sight, out of mind attitude. If a sensible law was brought out where the parents compensated the victim by replacing the car, even if it cost them thouasands, they would soon give them proper guidance.

If I was in charge with punishment, they plus their parents would go to a proper jail, not a borstal “holiday camp”, where they would never want to go to again.
