I HAVE just been reading about the three people who were fined for dropping cigarette ends.

As much as I agree with what was said in the paper, perhaps Cllr Nick Peel could do with going up to visit Deane Road each morning and some of the streets off Deane Road to see what litter is. I travel along these roads every morning and what a disgusting mess they are. The poor workers from Bolton council must think “not again” when they see all the rubbish.

One day last week there were three workers cleaning up the rubbish. Some areas of Bolton/Westhoughton don’t see anyone cleaning up for weeks at a time. Bolton Council would make a fortune in Deane with litter fines, that's if there were ever any litter patrol workers about. Also, while I am on the subject of litter, Snydal Way in Westhoughton is a disgrace.

There have been black bin bags dumped on a regular bases over the past 12 months at the back of the bus stop.

The bags that are there now have been ripped open, I assume, by rats and foxes and the rubbish is now all over the side.

Perhaps Cllr Peel could do something about that. Barbara Morris Westhoughton
