MY mother recently spent more than four weeks as a patient on E3 surgical ward at Royal Bolton Hospital.
At 92, we were worried about her care as lots of “horror” stories about the care of the elderly seem to be prevalent in the media.
We should not have been concerned. From day one, we were so impressed with the level of care our mother received.
The nursing staff were, without exception, highly professional while at the same time, friendly, caring and patient.
Sadly, mum did not recover from her illness, but the staff ensured she was always comfortable, pain-free and treated with compassion and dignity.
They were never too busy to offer a shoulder to cry on, make a cup of tea, and generally to look after us all. We are truly grateful for their dedication and care.
They do not receive praise often enough, so a big thank you to all the nursing staff of E3 ward, you should be very proud of the high level of care you provide to the people of Bolton.
