IN response to the anonymous critic (October 7) of the proposed sports village at Bromley Cross.
The writer and myself must agree to differ. Inevitably there will be those who support this proposal and those who do not.
I am sure that the company is aware of this, which is why it has offered residents in BL7 (which includes Egerton) a consultation opportunity to state their support, objections or suggestions by paper questionnaire, telephone and online.
The upholding of the Ashworth covenant may or may not be a democratic matter, but now perhaps the covenant may not apply to this site, as a precedent for the use of the site, (Holland Gardening Centre plus permissions for the pitches) has already been established.
No doubt due process will take place and, whatever the outcome, the proposed development will either happen or it won’t. The company has stated that without the retail interest, the rest of the project cannot not take place.
