AS Bradshaw residents of 19 years, we strongly oppose the developments in Bromley Cross, although perhaps it should be renamed Bradshaw Sports Village as that is the area most impacted given that the site extends along the entire boundary of the Turton Heights estate to the Oaks Lane boundaries.

We object on planning constraints. When an open space becomes available, why the need to redevelop it so dramatically?

Green spaces within a community should be welcomed and enhanced but not to the extent of blatant over development.

The area, and Bolton as a whole, already has a wealth of sports facilities. There are 192 pitches available, with 177 available for community use, and 107 of these identified as having potential space capacity.

As a community, only 6.6 per cent of sports participation in Bolton is football related. There are seven cricket pitches, three of these within 10 minutes travel of Bromley Cross.

The area is already well served by the Co--operative store, Morrison’s, Asda and a Lidl within 10 minutes travel time.

The roads around this site are already busy, there is no alternative route available through Bromley Corss/Bradshaw.

There is a large number of pupils walking to and from schools in the vicinity having to negotiate narrow paths under the railway bridge, fast traffic and blind bends.

For all these pupils there is only one crossing patrol near the railway station.

The proposed number of sports pitches and the hours they will be available will present issues of noise.

And the hours of floodlighting are going to be intrusive to properties within the immediate vicinity.
