IN Charlotte Dobson's report, October 11, Andy Burnham, pictured, Secretary of State for Health in the last Labour Government, is quoted as slamming the “sell off” of NHS services, arguing a vote for the Tories would result in a “toxic mix of cuts and privatisation.”

He seems to have conveniently forgotten that it was the Labour Government which first started buying services for the NHS from the private sector.

Furthermore, if his Government had not thrown money at the NHS without ensuring that they got good value for money and had not nearly bankrupted the country, then some of the cuts would not have been necessary.
