I WAS absolutely 'gobsmacked ' to read your 'lead comment' in Thursday's paper, October 30. You don't consider an increase of 21% of child sex exploitation cases in our town(+360 missing) not to be a crisis?
This is astounding. What constitutes a 'crisis' — 40/50 %.? And 360 missing in a small town like Bolton.
When the true extent actually comes to light it will not only expose the lack of urgency shown by the authorities here in Bolton but also the lack of 'fair and unbiased' investigative journalism by our local paper.
Whichever part of our community is responsible it has to be told 'how it is.' The 'social norm' statistics in Greater Manchester in the report are also extremely misleading because it also fails to acknowledge this is the biggest problem by far.
