RE the accident on Monday, December 15 at the crossing between Thynne St and Newport St in which a pedestrian was knocked down and received head injuries.
I passed the incident about 9 30am and again at 9 50am.The accident as reported in The Bolton News failed to mention that the injured woman had to lay in the middle of the road for up to one hour and twenty minutes before an ambulance turned up. This is totally unacceptable. I had to make another 999 call to the service and was told they didn't have enough ambulances. Fortunately, the woman was not seriously injured but her wait for the ambulance went well over the"Golden Hour" during which paramedics are usually hopeful for a successful outcome.
There was a mobile medic with a cycle in attendance, but where were the rapid response emergency bikers we are so used to seeing on TV ? Do we have any in Bolton? And perhaps if the wealthy paid their fair share of tax the NHS would be in a better position to provide more ambulances?
