RE the story about Northern Rail's new look electric trains which has just been unveiled. These four coach cast off electric trains were built by BREL York in 1987 and used by Thameslink on the Brighton to Bedford service. Needless to say Thameslink are awaiting new state of the art rolling stock, which is no surprise.
This Tory government keeps reminding us all how much money has been spent on The Northern Hub, what they failed to tell us that when the electrification is completed we would still have forty year old "Nodding Donkeys" and twenty eight year old rolling stock from down South running on the line and also the loss of the Trans Pennine Scottish services to Glasgow and Edinburgh via Bolton.
They have the audacity to call this progress.
