AS a trader in MArket Street, Farnworth as a butchers and bakery, I am just writing to agree with Patricia Weave, Letters, February 17.

There are a lot more reasons why Farnworth is dying a death. When Bolton assumed control of this area all sense of reasoning and common sense concerning the people of Farnworth went out the window. As long as ASDA could build a store slap bang in the middle of Farnworth the council were happy.

There was then road narrowing on Market Street. When I say road narrowing I mean pavements widened instead of putting parking bays to accommodate shoppers other than on Asda car park. Oh, I nearly forgot the double yellow lines. When the traffic wardens turn up they are like sheep dogs gathering the flock back to the car park. What ever St Modwen invests in Farnworth, the shops will have to be rented out for them to make any profit. The best of luck to them.
