I HAVE just read the response by Cliff Morris to the letter from Stuart Whittle regarding the plans shown in the Bolton News outlining what the student accommodation could look like.

He goes on to berate Mr Whittle for passing comment on how unsuitable those plans would be, well sorry Mr Morris but I'm with Mr Whittle as is everyone I have spoken to, why show artistic plans that have no relevance to how the area is going to look. How much money and time was spent and wasted on those artistic plans?

Then Mr Morris goes on to tell us that the Shankland Plan of 1964 (which he remembers) in someway explains away those artistic plans. If he had read Mr Whittle's letter properly he would have noticed he has no objection to sensitive plans just the monstrosity shown and how was he to know it was just a pointless exercise.

The labour council of Bolton has visions of grandeur, when in actual fact it is turning our town centre into a student campus with total disregard for any other members of the public and if Mr Morris thinks student spending will sustain the town good luck to him.
