WHO does Tory Cllr Mudasir Dean think he is kidding in his letter 'Let's stick to the plan that's helping deliver economic security' (March 1).

Since this coalition government under the Tories came to power, they have done little in the way of helping deliver any economic security, if anything there is a high level of economic insecurity, just ask one of the hundreds of thousands of workers who are on zero contract hours, or the many who had to take on two or even three jobs to make ends mate.

In reality all the Tories have done since coming into power is to break up and sell off our collective services that we have built over time with our tax contributions leading to thousands of job losses and a lack of services, and attack people on benefits by blaming them for the country's ills, whilst the banks who caused all of this are still walking away with bailouts and bonuses that we pay for. If capitalism requires constant propping up with public money whilst tax payers money is used to pay working tax credits which are effectively another prop to make up the shortfall in peoples earnings, then it has failed miserably and monumentally as the major economic model to provide for us.

Chancellor George Osbourne has allowed the so called deficit to grow and grow, and whilst the deficit has been growing, he continues to borrow from the banks culminating in the fact that he has borrowed money in four years than any other Chancellor in history.

When the Tories say that the economy is doing OK, they mean that economy is doing OK for the people who vote them into power, so yes the economy is working well for large corporations, CEO's and company directors, but not for the people who work for these companies, and are responsible for generating huge profits for them.

I guess like all of the other career politicians Cllr Dean must think that we were all born yesterday and that none of us have the capacity to look beyond the tabloids to see what his party are really doing to the country.
