WHAT a most admirable and fantastic idea by our very diligent and hard working Mayor of Bolton, Cllr Martin Donaghy to plan to open a help centre in our town for retired members of the armed forces which will enable them to get back into work and support them with medical or psychological care and housing issues too.
A first for Bolton and is to be commended indeed.
The Mayor rightly points out — if someone has been prepared to lay down their life for us and our country the least we can do is support them and so I hope this project comes to fruition.
Our mayor in his year of office has certainly been very committed to the people of our borough, encouraging local firms to take on apprentices which has been highly successful, he has campaigned for recognition for people buried in paupers' graves in the town and now this too.
I am sure many residents will have read in The Bolton News and seen at first hand how very dedicated and passionate our mayor has been in his year in office and his good work will truly benefit our people and borough for many years to come.
He has certainly done himself and our town very proud so far!
