THE many letters of disapproval of the three pronged attack by Bolton's Labour council on the 'jewels' in Bolton's 'crown' — the listed Town Hall, Le Mans Crescent and 'gaudy makeover' of Newport Street in to a northern 'tacky' Benidorm, raises the question of why are they doing this?
The Town Hall frontage is to be 'vandalised' to create a windswept, gloomy cafe patio that no one wants or cares about, whilst the Le Mans Crescent archway is to lose its brilliant setting in Bolton town centre's remaining open green space, to create yet another piece of the 'cultural cleansing' the constantly expanding University has become.
Everything of aesthetic value is to be swept away in the name of creating an alien townscape whatever the adverse consequences for the town's native inhabitants.
We hear no opposition to these drastic, negative developments that are being imposed on the heart of the town from those who are elected to serve their constituents —from Bolton's three Labour MPs who like the town's numerous Labour councillors have remained silent over the issue, putting their Party before the public? With elections looming many will face re-election by you the electors. I'd ask you to use your votes wisely to show your disapproval with their
inaction?.
