I WOULD like to ask the people of this country who think we need an atomic bomb one simple question — who do they think we are going to drop it on? It’s certainly not Russia, nor the Middle East and, as we’re borrowing billions from China, I don’t think that it is them, either.

Nobody in their right mind can consider using the atomic bomb. Only one other country in Europe has one and the rest are quite happy without it.

When we were at the peak of the Cold War our policy was, that if the Russians had invaded us, to drop a bomb on Germany. A really smart idea considering that they are our allies. But that, believe it or not, was our policy; however, I do not believe that was what we would have done so I ask again — which enemy are we going to drop it on?

The reason why the politicians want the bomb is so that they can sit at the big table. It makes them feel puffed up, but what is the cost to the nation? We cannot fund the NHS properly, we cannot look after the health of our pensioners properly, we cannot pay for the best education in the world, and we cannot pay for our children to go to university.

In fact, our quality of life would be greatly enhanced if we did not have the atomic bomb. Most of the world does not have an atomic bomb but for some strange, archaic reason the people of this country seem to think we need one. If they took the trouble to think about they would realise that it is a complete waste of money. What we do need is a larger conventional force made up of true professionals.

The real problem that this country faces in the near future will be from migrants from Africa coming into Europe which is why we must stay in Europe. To protect our shores we must protect Europe in collaboration with our European partners. When our politicians say we need the atomic bomb they are lying. It is as simple as that. Do not be fooled by them. Demand the cancellation of Trident and spend the money on the hard-working people of this country. It’s a ‘no brainer’. Seriously, think about it and then demand the money be spent on this country and its needs.
