JUST to make readers aware of the risks of parking in what appear to be empty “public” car parks adjacent to open retail sites out of shopping hours.
My wife and I parked in The Range/Tops Tiles/Joy car park off Crompton way opposite Lidl and enjoyed an evening meal at a local Indian restaurant. We returned to the car an hour later and returned home. Some three weeks later we have received notification of a fine for parking illegally on private land for £100 reduced to £60 if paid within 28 days.
Beware, and be warned and look out for those obscure small signs. Don’t even drive in to turn around!
The £60 fine and many more is £60 out of the pocket of other local businesses.
I certainly won’t be shopping at The Range or Jollyes or Topps Tiles for one. They need to get a grip of their commercial relationships with the landlord.
