AlONG with other local people I too am against the alterations to the town hall and the building of student accommodation in Cheadle Square.
There are lots of brown field sites around town for student accommodation namely the Odeon cinema site, now derelict also the old technical college site to name but two.
The council say it is trying to attract business to the town but a cafe in the town hall will only provide competition for the established food providers in the town centre. The new cafe culture in the basement of the Market Hall is not yet open but will need help to get established not competition.
I say scrap the Town Hall cafe and let the council employees working in the town hall use the local facilities for snacks and meals, there are plenty of them.
