I watched 'The Air We Breathe' and was horrified to learn about the amount of carbon dioxide in the air which is emitted in large amounts from diesel.
This programme was very relevant to the residents of Harwood who have to put up with all the lorries going to and from the quarry and often laden with uncovered loads of bricks/stones which frequently "fly off".
The amount of lorries appears to have increased and the dust and noise has now become unacceptable. When it has been dry for a couple of days the cars are absolutely covered in dirt, put rain into the mix and the roads become muddy then dry and more dust and dirt ensue.
I had an appointment for a recurrent chest infection around 3.25pm and set off from my home on Longsight. The traffic had to be seen to be believed, cars, lorries, schoolchildren and the poor lollipop lady all going in different directions at the bottom of Brookfold Lane. It was chaos and very dangerous. Our poor children are in constant danger from the amount of traffic and now as recently proven future chest and lung disease.
Only another 13 or 14 years of this, long enough to damage our health and our children's and why do the flashing speed warning signs not work near the school?
