LABOUR MP Yasmin Qureshi has complained that she is fed up of having to say sorry for terrorist attacks by Islamic fanatics and uses the recent Charleston shootings to justify her point that white people are not expected to apologise for the actions of white fanatics.

Ms Qureshi’s argument is very selective as she ignores the condemnation heaped upon the Charleston shooter by members of the white community in Charleston. She also ignores the peace march shown on TV which showed predominantly white people march in solidarity with their black neighbours.

This doesn’t happen with the Muslim community. There are no public demonstrations by Muslims against the ISIS atrocities being committed against Christians and Muslims. There were no marches organised by Muslim communities after the Charlie Hebdo murders.

If we share the same human values of compassion, respect and tolerance then it is time for this to change.
