IT'S great news that the Council have had a change of heart about building a café into the façade of the Town Hall but something doesn't sit right with me. When it comes to major development plans for the town then our Council are never swayed by public opinion. By the time an application/proposal is published by the Council via the newspaper then all sorts of expert advice has been sought to support the plan. Public opinion carries little weight with the Council's development board as there is a perception that the public do not know what's best for the town.
The practical/commercial problems linked to this plan would have existed at the pre-planning stage so it is odd that the Council didn't give them any credence at that time.
