THE Westhoughton Village Fete held over the weekend was a fantastic day out.
I would like to thank everyone involved in running it, and all those volunteers who gave up their time to make it such a fun and memorable occasion. The children were all enthralled by the snakes and reptiles on display; and the talks provided by their expert carer were fascinating.
I was especially impressed by the drum-and-dance display provided by a local group. One has to wonder how they managed to survive the heat in their costumes, however – especially given one was carrying a large lion head as part of his routine!
All in all, an excellent day and I look forward to attending again next year.
