I AM taking this opportunity to advise passengers of the forthcoming changes, to bus routes 68, that serves parts of Harper Green, and the day time 571/572.

I understand is planned to come into force from Sunday, July 19, when without any consultation to the passengers I learned the daytime 571/572 is being replaced and with a combined service with the 519 and a new 520 is being extended to Johnson Fold, but on the inbound journey to Bolton from Great Lever, the services will not serve Thynne Street, (for the Railway Station) Trinity Street and Blackhorse Street as it being rerouted to travel continually on Fletcher Street, across Bridgeman Street to Deane Road, direct into the current Moor Lane bus station.

This will cause inconvenience for shoppers wanting to shop at Morrisons and Sainsbury’s or the many nearby local stores.

Not only will it also cause further inconvenience to passengers arriving at Bolton Railway Station, since the outbound services to Johnson Fold, will not serve the Interchange instead will be routed via Great Moor Street and follows it route along Bradshawgate.

I learned about the changes from councillor Susan Howarth who informed me that these were on the agenda of Transport for Greater Manchester Committee report for resolution – TFGM Forthcoming Changes to the Bus Network held on July 10.

I attended but unfortunately was not permitted to raise the issue. However I must appreciate Cllr David Chadwick who represents Bolton who raised a strong objection to the above changes. I am now waiting to hear if the changes will go ahead.

I guess they will since new timetables have been ready printed well before the above meeting.

We must be allowed to speak out and be listened to, thus the reason why I continue to raise the importance to reinstate the Local Passenger Transport Forums. I would appreciate any help to set up on line petition, if you can assist please contact me on 01204 63578 Mb 07949118126 email prevacrossley@talktalk.net and welcome the support to ensure changes to the above bus routes do not go ahead.
