I WOULD like to voice my dismay at Bolton Council, is it intent on taking away all that Bolton people love, enjoy, and need?
Firstly we had a fabulous Market Hall one of the best in the north west, full of individual shops/stalls. Now we are left with a soulless precinct with shops that can be found anywhere.
Secondly Newport Street, the elephants that children loved to sit on and have their photo taken, a simple thing but well used. Trees, a little bit of greenery in the town, forms where shoppers could have a minute, a pasty or bag of chips, a natter with a friend or even a stranger. The Arch/Canopy where charities could make a few pounds, shoppers could try the tombola or search for a bargain.
Sadly now all gone one big empty space, I call it zombie street, people wandering about looking lost nowhere to sit no focal point.
The people who benefit most are the cyclists, scooter/skateboarders, there will be a nasty accident on Newport Street, especially with the school holidays upon us.
Then last but not least they tell us we are to have a smaller bin. We recycle paper, cardboard, cans, bottles, and yet we still struggle to cope with the bin we have. Our street has some of the biggest gardens in our area and what does the council do? It took away all our green bins.
So Bolton council, shape up listen to what Bolton people say.
