I would fully endorse recent readers letters (Mr Bowyer and Mr Summers) regarding the relegation of our town to the Conference North regarding health provision and legal representation.

I would also like our elected MP's to make their respective views available to the public to either endorse the government's policy or oppose it.

It's not just health and the law that we need to worry about. Take transport for example. We are in the bizarre situation were colossal investment is being touted for the HS2 project in contrast to our existing rail network which is grossly under financed, although all the vested interests will tell you otherwise.

There's nothing like a big shiny new project (the cost of which will at least triple during the construction life cycle) to take people's eye off the ball .The thought that the London to Manchester rail-time will be cut and that the north will be opened up to future investment is an Orwellian lie of giant proportion, it will open up a payday bonanza for a few lucky professionals who will be able to double their earnings by commuting to London in record time!

I am aware that both the Labour Party and the Lib-dems are in favour of this folly hence an opportunity missed at the last General Election to differentiate themselves from the Conservatives.

Another shiny new idea is an elected mayor, now that might work in the borough of Bolton but imagine a Manchester based overlord and where his priorities would lie.
