IT looks like another faux pas at Bolton Council, this time over their treatment of the allotment 'plotters.'
Any fair minded person would see that these ordinary people are trying to make that little bit of difference to their community only to be snuffed out by heavy handed bureaucrats who took this action after only one complaint - yes ONE complaint, is that what democracy is all about?
As far as I can see the pros outweigh the cons, for example:
1 The enterprising attitude of the plotters should be applauded trying to make better their circumstances at the allotment, with the council budget as it is, one would have thought they would have encouraged this venture.
2 Surely the selling of good, wholesome and cheap food is a winner.
3 The local community gains and their collective heart beats that little bit stronger.
4 Who knows how many may have been inspired to grow their own fruit and veg.
A pragmatic council would have offered an olive branch and met the plotters half way and helped and encouraged them to navigate their way around any legal obstacles which prevent them from carrying on. Indeed any council worth their salt could see an opportunity to spread this type of venture throughout the borough.
I say to the 'plotters', well done and don't give up.
