I THINK most people would welcome asylum seekers from war torn countries in to their communities, if there was ample housing, school places, and jobs, not just for asylum seekers, but for the indigenous population.

There will be bad feeling towards these unfortunate people, when they are housed before our own homeless. When schools become even more over crowded. When hospital appointments mean even longer waits, or cancellations.

The rich countries of Europe and further afield, must tackle this problem head-on. We must inject as much money as it takes, out of the EU budget, to build social houses, schools and other facilities. This money should also be used to train sufficient GPs, hospital doctors, and nurses, making life much better for everyone, not just asylum seekers.

Welcoming these unfortunate people into our communities is the way to world peace. Turning them away and shunning those who are here, only creates ill feeling and hostilities.

God knows we have caused enough of that throughout the world, without causing even more.
