THE Green Party in Bolton, is appalled by the Clinical Commissioning Group's £50,000 cut to funding for Bolton Steps project.

This charity has done sterling work over the last 17 years, helping people who have mental health issues, by finding them placements, and helping them back into work.

The project gives the clients the confidence they need, with much needed support offered. They have 70 clients at the moment, with 150 referrals per year from other health organisation.

Bolton Steps is now under threat of closure, and has a crowdfunder appeal to keep it open. They are looking to raise £15,000. Organisations like Steps must surely save our health service money in the long run which in turn saves us tax payers money.

I would like to ask readers to donate to the appeal, if they can, but more importantly on this occasion it seems that the CCG appears to be subscribing to the adage of knowing the price of everything and value of nothing. We ask them to think again about their cut to funding.
