I FEEL I must protest most strongly to the decision taken by Bolton's Labour led council to vet members of the public who want to attend council meetings, and more specifically trying to curtail local democracy.

Their aim is to restrict Bolton against the Bedroom tax voicing opposition to council policy.

The council actions is an attack on peoples legitimate right to protest in a non-violent way, non violent direct action is a fundamental human right, in any democratic society.

Two questions need to be asked to the council, and in particularly leader of the Council Cllr Clifford Morris.

1, Why has a debate at full council level not been allowed on a no evictions policy, when members of Bolton against the Bedroom tax have gathered the correct 4,000 signatures to allow this.

2, Why has Cllr Morris not responded to a request for a no evictions policy, after he took receipt of the 4,000 strong petition in October 2014. He said at the time that the bedroom tax was an evil tax, and the council would do all within its power to implement a no evictions policy.

Finally the proposed plans to attempt to bar members of Bolton against the bedroom tax from council meetings, worries me greatly, and suggests democracy is dead in Bolton.
