IT was good to read the news about the pioneering work at the University of Bolton which has led to the development of the fast healing wound bandage.

It proves that the UK still plays its part in developing products for tomorrow's world.

Unfortunately this exciting news was tempered by the statement that production will take place in China.

It begs the question as to why this new product can't be manufactured in this country. Surely this question needs looking at.

Do the town's MPs know about this matter and surely they need to take it up with the highest possible level within Government.

If we, as a nation, are to prosper in the future and pay our way in the world, the country needs to increase its manufacturing base and at a local level, Bolton needs more manufacturing jobs.
