AN update for residents in Astley Bridge.

The panning enforcement officers have now carried out their investigation into the mystery surrounding the Brierfield public house on Blackburn Road. Several residents had been concerned that internal building work had taken place and a possible change of use without seeking planning permission and had contacted the council's planning department.

The owner has informed planning enforcement they have no plans to change use and is fully aware of the planning procedure should changes be made. The planning officer visited the site on two occasions and observed no breach of planning. The council also received complaints regarding work to a number of trees. One tree was felled, however the owner sought advice from the council's Tree and Woodland team. The tree which has been felled does not form part of the Tree Preservation Order which covers the area in question. The officers are still to investigate the pruning of several bushes.
