I READ with interest the story about the ceiling collapse at the Thwaites Empire Theatre, Blackburn , Monday, April 11.

I did attend but was met with the news that the ceiling had collapsed, fortunately no one was injured.

I have long held the view that Bolton needs a 'community theatre.'

There are so many groups in the performing arts in the town but unfortunately, they have nowhere to perform.

We have many entertainment and sports stars in Bolton, it would be a lasting legacy if a philanthropic gesture could be made to build a community theatre in the town.

Theatre Works is one of many that would benefit and give the children and young adults the opportunity to perform and show case their talents.

We have so many office buildings with 'To Let' signs on them.

Perhaps instead of empty buildings we could have a fully functioning theatre is use all the year round.
