HOW right Steve Jones of Morris Green is in his assessment of the Tory party.
A party I should add that is very adept at sucking up to the bankers and the multi nationals, but in reality have never shown much affinity with Fred the fishmonger, Peter the publican, Cath the cafe owner or Barbara the boutique owner. I ran a small business from Derby Street from 1969-1986 following a long family tradition, stretching back to possibly the 1920s.
Mr Jones states the Tories show very little interest in my small business, has it ever been thus.
I remember everything my parents did for the local Tories in the 1950s; garden parties, charity dos, coffee mornings etc.
Precious little appreciation was shown, so as you can imagine, my parents soon became disillusioned.
I beseech you fellow Boltonians, seek our Kath at her cafe, give her your custom. At least you will be safe in the knowledge that a percentage of her profits will finish up with the Exchequer, not the Virgin Islands or wherever.
And to Chris Green, Bolton West MP, don't become complacent by the fact that you may perceive the present Labour party as weak and divided. It won't always be like that.
