I WOULD not try to advise anyone about how to vote in the EU referendum, it is a personal matter.

We did not ask for a referendum, we were happy getting on with life, the referendum was offered by a Tory prime minister to keep his back benchers quiet. There will be a vote in favour of leaving the EU. ‘Stay’ will lose the vote because neither the Hampstead branch of the Labour party, nor the Eton element of the Tory party have dealt with the one issue which the overwhelming majority of ‘ordinary’ people are concerned about. Mass, uncontrolled immigration. We do not worry about immigration for racist or cultural reasons, or because we are ‘bigots,' but for economic reasons. Immigration is linked to future wages, services, and jobs.

If the human race was the same colour, if they all spoke English, if there were no religion (please) and if everyone was skilled to the same degree, these islands could still not sustain 400,000 to 500,000 immigrants a year without a massive negative effect on wages, services, and jobs.

What size of population will the UK have to reach before the political elite say ‘enough’? And how do we then stop it? Politicians have been unwilling to face up to that question, so ‘ordinary’ people will draw their own conclusions and address it in the only way they can — they will vote to leave.

The latest Labour message is ‘do not vote to leave just to punish the Tories’.

My concern when we do leave is about where we will find real leaders who actually care for their country.

Should we be bothered about the EU if we are over 65 years of age? I think so. My grandfather and my father fought in the World Wars (along with millions of others) I am voting on their behalf. What of my grandchildren and future great grandchildren who cannot vote, what sort of UK do I want to leave for them?
