THIS last week or so has seen democracy under attack in this country more than I can remember in my life time.

The Euro referendum result came out in favour of 'Leave' but no sooner was the result announced than politicians were trying to find ways to overturn it and (at the time of writing) it is still a possibility.

Then came the Labour revolt as MPs want the democratically elected leader of the party removed. Note: Leader of the party. This is crucial to the whole catastrophic development. Were he leader of MPs elected by MPs they could legitimately vote to remove him but this is not the case and their attempt, against the overwhelming wishes of party members is outrageous.

I am not a Corbynista, I am not even a member of any political party but I speak as an ex member of Labour and it saddens me to see the way the party's MPs are arrogantly behaving. Let me remind them they are in the position they are because of the ballot box as is Jeremy Corbyn's position as leader of the party. Come election time MPs depend on party members putting in the hours to get the vote out but then seek to deny them a say in who should be their leader. How arrogant. How dare they.
