RECENTLY I had a bit of a shock. I'd got used to Farnworth being the 'poor cousin' of the 'Bolton Family' with any money (including the 'Tesco money', supposedly for Farnworth centre) going to Bolton town centre and it's numerous 'transport interchanges', markets, beautiful seating, trees and so on.
I didn't like it, but calmed down over time. I'd even learned to negotiate the dog muck and litter all over the streets of Highfield, where I live.
But recently it brought it all back when, along with my two grandchildren, I went to get the 501 bus home from Farnworth and not only was the market gone so was the bench next to the bus stop.
What's going on? There's hardly any seating left in Farnworth as it is and what's left is rubbish. Do we have anybody to represent us or does the town hall embrace mean anything in the outer areas is forgotten?
I wished, last Thursday, that the EU referendum had included voting leave Bolton as well as Europe and I bet there's a lot of people also 'out in the sticks' who would like that too.
