MAY I once again thank the people of Bolton for supporting Saturday evening's excellent concert in Bolton Parish Church performed by Smithills School and Eagley Brass Bands together with Smithills Community Choir in aid of Derian House Children's Hospice.
Not only did the concert raise over £1,300 for this most worthy of charities and organisations, it was a pleasure to perform to such an excellent audience. Many members of Eagley Band are current and former Smithills players, as indeed has been Eagley's conductor for the past four years Matthew Ryan, and it was a pleasure to come together in raising money for Derian House.
On behalf of everyone at Smithills may I thank Debs Lyons of Eagley Band, Councillor John Walsh of Bolton Parish Church and everyone involved in making Saturday night's concert extra special.
