The roadworks on Saturday on Turton Road were a prize example of ineptitude and lack of proper planning. It was chaotic with vehicles trying to navigate past plant and equipment.
There were vehicles attempting to come up and down the road on a single lane without any form of control or direction.
I spoke to one of the supervisors who explained it wasn't needed as there was only access for residents. How many people live between Oaks Lane and Shady Lane? Thousands?
Whoever accepted the method statement and risk assessments for the works should be asked to explain the situation. On Saturday, for much of the time it was dangerous and uncontrolled.
On Sunday afternoon there was one man with a wheelbarrow. Not exactly an urgent undertaking.
