WHILST I, along with most patriotic Englishmen, applaud the achievement of the Team GB, that should surely have been named Team UK +NI.

We must all remember that all Olympic contestants started off their careers by following a hobby they enjoyed. The winning of medals is an achievement and I am in no way detracting from that. The winning of Gold, Silver or Bronze, is all the recognition that they will want and I am sure that the correct approach to the recognition of these achievements is to try to ensure that the government recognises the fact that all competitors are a good example to the younger generation and makes it their business to encourage councils all over the UK and NI to build stadia to make all physical activities an alternative to the iPad etc.

Then we may see a reduction in anti-social activities and a more peaceful, contented and patriotic population.
