NEWPORT Street has certainly improved but where is the greenery?

I see that trees are planned, great but why were the old ones removed before necessary? The trees and the elephants were some of the best things about the street. I appreciate a modern spacious gateway to the town is an asset but a combination of well cared for flowers and trees should be used to compliment and soften the vista.

Hopefully this will happen. So far so good, Newport Street is a huge challenge. Perhaps the planners should visit Bury, awash with flowers, or Stockport where there is a pleasant, almost town centre green area with erupting fountains that children can frolic in our all too infrequent sunshine.

Newport Street is already vastly improved with the removal of the hideous glass verandas. The area in front of the town hall is always complemented by our visitors but, please, replant some trees, greenery and flowers in this all too sterile street.
