FOLLOWING a delicious meal in a local town centre restaurant, my sister, a friend and I were making our way across the town hall square when we came across two young men skateboarding along the footpath in front of The Bolton News door and jumping down the steps.
They saw us approaching and stepped back to let us pass.
When we reached them I asked why they were not using the skatepark Bolton had spent thousands on. They explained that people were building fires on it and there was lots of anti-social behaviour and they did not want to go there. They said a policeman had told them they were not breaking any laws using the walkway.
Have we (Bolton) wasted thousands providing this facility? What can be done to make it safe for decent young people to use the skatepark?
