DAVID Crausby invokes ‘parliamentary democracy’ as the MP’s right to vote on Brexit.

Now the usual blather about MPs ‘being careful to bear the will of the British people in mind’. There is nothing to bear in mind David, the British people made it clear that they wanted out of the EU. I think that MPs/Lords will play games with it at their peril.

Parliament voted 6 to 1 to hold a referendum and agreed to abide by the decision of the people, whichever side won. I suspect that had the Remain side won, anyone trying to demand a further Brexit debate would be laughed at.

Do we really want 650 MPs and 850 Lords, most of whom have never had a job or negotiated a contract before in their lives, publicly dissecting every element of our negotiating stance before we even start to talk with the EU.

The EU by refusing to discuss any of the real concerns of the British (and other EU) people with Cameron set the tone for the referendum. Cameron was so certain the Remain would win that he put no effort in to trying to change the EU, and the EU thought that we would not dare vote to leave. They were both wrong.

The ‘open borders’ policy of the EU was introduced in the mid 50s when few people travelled far within their own country let alone to other European countries. Today a group of people from any European country can get on a bus for about 30 euros and alight in any town in the UK. That makes no economic, security, employment, community cohesion or any other form of sense today.

Certainly negotiate on the basis of ‘no borders’ but only for workers who are moving to and from a job. Parliament is full of MPs who wish the UK harm, Scots Nats, Lib Dems, and the Corbyn element of the Labour party will do anything to disrupt and harm the negotiations.

As to the Scots Nats (not the Scottish people), they should make a unilateral declaration of independence (UDI has been done before), stop whingeing and bleating in the UK parliament and start to negotiate their own terms with the EU. As a bigger economic basket case than Greece the negotiations should not last long.

As to the parliamentary democracy David Crausby is keen on, we voted Labour MPs in, who now have absolutely no say on who the Labour leader should be, or who should form the shadow cabinet. Just get on with Brexit!
