ON behalf of officers, committee and members of Astley Bridge Legion Club may we express sincere thanks to all who made Sunday's Remembrance Parade so successful.

In particular our "last-minute" plea for a marching band through The Bolton News resulted in an immediate and generous response from Wingates Brass Band to lead us to and from church. The publicity and the band's presence undoubtedly raised the profile of the event and attendance was the best for many years. Thanks to yourselves and the band for this.

We wish also to thank Greater Manchester Police officers and PCSO's, some of whom gave up days off, for safeguarding the parade throughout, to Reverend Nick McKee and all at St. Paul's Church, Astley Bridge, for the moving Service of Remembrance, to local primary schools, scouts, cubs, guides, brownies and rainbow groups, all too numerous to name individually, to the nine musical artistes who gave freely of their time and entertained us throughout the afternoon back at the club and to all who attended and supported in any way.

We can now look forward with renewed confidence to next year and the years beyond!
