ON Saturday I visited my home town of Bolton, I caught the bus from town to Folds Road, then walked along Turton Street, where I had lived and then back to Moor Lane.
As it proved this was rather too much.
Arriving back at the bus station , I was waiting got my transport home and decided to buy a Bolton News. As the lady passed me the paper, I lost all balance and fell backwards.
I lay completely helpless. My son-in-law tried to lift me, but I couldn't move. Along came two young chaps, complete strangers. Between them they lifted me, and place me on a nearby seat, at which stage a lady from the newsagents came to ask if she could help — maybe a cup of tea perhaps?
I was born in Bolton in 1932 and lived there until moving to my present address 55 years ago. Last Saturday proved why I always claim to proud to be a Boltonian.
